Quality Engineering Test Establishment

Since 1970 the Quality Engineering Test Establishment (QETE) has provided multi-disciplinary engineering and applied science services to all elements of the Canadian Forces and the Department of National Defence. Our role is to ensure that materials, equipment and services used by DND and the CF satisfy their operational and performance requirements throughout their life cycle.

Our laboratory based investigational and advisory work supports Major Crown projects and in-service life cycle management as well as addressing life extension issues.

Over the years, our capabilities and roles have evolved to address changing technology and ever more demanding equipment requirements. In addition, our approach has become more global with greater participation in international activities including representing the department on NATO, ABCA (American, British, Canadian, Australian) and other committees. In addition, where it makes sense from a technical expertise and cost effective viewpoint, we have also taken on new roles including technical authority and policy development.

As technology and the Department's equipment continue to evolve in complexity, QETE's staff is committed to remaining relevant and responsive to meet the "challenges and problems of tomorrow, today".
